It Started With Back Pain
In 1997, I suffered horrendous pain in my back from lifting a carpet that resulted in me being signed off work and prescribed strong painkillers. While I was off, I entered the 1998 London Marathon as I thought it would be the perfect target for me to get fit and get rid of the back problem. I hadn’t done any running for a few years until that point.
I ran London and when I crossed the finish line, I felt a huge sense of achievement, the thought that if I could do it, anybody could and the desire to help others go after the things they previously didn’t believe possible for them as I had just done.
I quit my job as a pizza chef and trained to become a Personal Trainer. I gained experience working in gyms and in 2006, Steve Bonthrone Fitness opened for business.
