This is the second post in my series on the process I use to help my clients achieve their goals. It’s a process that’s been developed over the last 18 years from the courses I’ve been on and the people I’ve worked with.

It’s here to give you an idea of what it’s like to work with me and what you can expect if you’re thinking of asking me to help you on your journey. In my previous post, I spoke about the first step I call Painting Pictures. Here, we move onto Step 2: Laying Foundations.

What is Laying Foundations?

I want you to think of a jigsaw. You pour out the pieces onto the table, you naturally look out the corner pieces and the flat edged pieces so you can put them together to create a frame then start working towards the middle.

This is kinda the same but for you.

Our typical approach to our health and fitness goals is to start from the bottom and build up in the hope that we get to where we want to be. That’s a bit like trying to put the jigsaw together with a vague idea of what the image should look like. When you work with me, we start with the finish in mind and this step is about preparing your mind and body for the journey ahead.

This means looking at helping you streamline your daily routine so that you can fit everything in.

We start with where you are right now and work on the following areas:

Exercise – improve your mobility, flexibility, balance and general fitness, building strength along the way.

Diet – Improve HOW and WHEN you eat then start making changes to WHAT you eat. Making drastic changes to what you eat isn’t actually necessary.

SleepTHIS is the most important of all. Once you improve the quality of your sleep, everything changes.

This is essentially about helping you achieve the things you want now, achieve goals you haven’t even thought of yet and continue moving forwards for years to come.

Why is this important?

We thrive on a settled routine. Think of how good you feel when things get back to normal after the festive season and you know what day of the week it is again!

This makes us all sound rather dull but if you look at elite sportspeople and Olympic champions, this is how they achieve success.

When we think about your health and fitness, we look at the pieces of exercise, food, sleep and even mindset then work out a way we can fit them together in order to achieve our goals.

This brings us neatly onto Step 3: Practice, Learn, Grow.
