How are your resolutions or goals for 2021 coming along?
If they’re beginning to wobble already, this post could help you.
I’m rubbish at setting goals for the year as I struggle to think that far ahead. I much prefer shorter term goals, see how the journey unfolds and set new ones along the way. It makes the journey much more exciting and the goals I do achieve by the end of each year, there’s no way I could’ve thought of them at the start of it! Besides, goals are fleeting moments and it’s the actions and behaviours you practice every day that make the biggest difference in the long term.
My 3 Words
I’m taking a different approach to my goals this year. I feel like I’ve been in limbo since lockdown in March, haven’t seen the progress I wanted and want to push on and discover what is possible for me. I’m using inspiration from a post by Chris Brogan (see link at the bottom of this post). The purpose is to choose 3 words that will guide my actions and behaviours throughout the year and when practiced daily, will lead me to achieving the goals I have in mind, and much more.
My 3 words for 2021 are:
Discover – I want to discover what I’m capable of. In fitness, I believe I can become fitter, stronger and run faster than I’ve ever done this year. I also want to see where I can go with my business and how I can help more people achieve their goals. I’m excited already about this!
Curious – I want to ask more questions, ask better questions to my clients, those who inspire me and most of all, myself. I want to learn from those who inspire me and challenge my own beliefs and the best way to do that is to ask questions!
Listen – there’s a saying that it’s not what people say, it’s what you hear. The biggest thing that’s held me back in the last year or two is my ego, believing I knew all the answers when in fact, I knew nothing. I am going to leave my ego at the door, listen more to my clients, those who inspire me and practice the advice I’m being given.
I see 2021 as a blank page. I’ve got an outline of the things I want to achieve but there’s room for lots more. I’m excited to discover what else will be in the picture and how vibrant the colours will be.
Over to you now, which 3 words will you choose?
If you were to do this, which 3 words would you choose?
Choose 3 words, words that are actionable and will move you forwards rather than to move away from.
Come and join me, write your own post and tag me in it so I can follow your journey or drop me a message with your 3 words.
