My Philosophy

My philosophy for coaching has come from everything I’ve learned over the last 24 years in fitness, from courses, books and more importantly, the people I’ve had the pleasure of working with and learned from.

Everything I do is designed around you and your goals and built on 4 main pillars – Believe, Nourish, Move and Rest. I believe that in order for us to achieve our goals, these 4 pieces must come together, in harmony, just like a jigsaw. If any are out of harmony, our goals will become harder to achieve, if we achieve them at all.

Let me tell you about them:

Believe

Believe is about having clarity on your goals. For years, people have told me they want to lose weight or get fit but aren’t really sure what that looks like in reality. I’ll help you bring your goal to life, as if you’ve just achieved it, so that you know exactly what it means to you, what it looks like and feels like. The things you now feel able to do, the clothes you want to wear, how you want to feel. All the things that are important to you. This is what we’ll be working towards and when you know exactly what you’re working towards, the journey to get there, the changes you need to make will feel a lot easier and everything you do feels like it’s moving you a step closer.

Nourish

You don’t need a diet or need to count calories! I believe that making a few simple changes, add in more of the things that are currently missing in your diet and improving HOW and WHEN you eat as well as WHAT you eat can produce outstanding results. I want you to love food, enjoy everything about it, get into cooking and create your own dishes. Once you start improving what you eat, you’ll begin to find you want less of the things that tend to trip you up, without even missing them!

Move

Move is so much more than a series of workouts. Our biggest problem is that we don’t move as much as we used to and have lost a lot of mobility as a result. Move is about helping you lead a more active life, improving your body’s ability to move so you feel like you can do everything much more easily. From improving mobility and balance to building strength and fitness using your own bodyweight and whatever you have available to you. I want you to enjoy exercising, love challenging yourself, discovering what you’re becoming able to do and how it makes you feel rather than feel it’s something you have to do.

Rest

This is probably the most important of the lot and is something that a lot of us tend to overlook. Rest isn’t about sitting with your feet up though. We’re all busy people and so rest is about taking time out for you to unwind, destress, spend time with loved ones and get better quality sleep. Rest is about helping you recover better, quicker so that you feel energised in everything you do, get better results in less time and feel like you’re capable of more than you thought.

1% Better, Every Day

A huge part of my philosophy is in aiming to make a series of small improvements every day. Rather than making big sweeping changes, I’ll suggest a few things for you to try and all I want you to do is go practice them. It’s not about doing them perfectly, it’s about trying, failing, learning and aiming to do better the next day. This is about creating a series of positive habits that will lead you to your goals and beyond. It’s the exact same approach that brought success to the likes of Michael Jordan, Tiger Woods, Lionel Messi and British Cycling.
