“I like to try and keep myself active and decided that I’d like to get back out running. As I hadn’t done any running for a few years (and I wasn’t great even then), I decided to look out for a running club where there would be likeminded people, supporting each other and helping improve technique. After a little searching I came across Steve’s website and noticed the 0 – 5k in 5 weeks. This actually sounded perfect. I contacted Steve and was booked on the next block starting the following week!
There were 4 of us in the group, each with our own reason for doing it. Just as I hoped, it was a friendly, supportive group. Not pretentious in any way. We all had a bit of banter … it actually felt like we’d all known each other for years!
Over the 5 weeks we were given different challenges / tasks to help us improve our technique and find our ideal pace to enable us to run for longer. The distance was also increased a little each week, culminating in a full 5k run on week 5. I am so pleased to say I did it … I managed to complete the 5k in week 5! It was hard at times … particularly feeling exhausted after a busy day at work but I’m so glad I opted to join. I would highly recommend this group to anyone who perhaps hasn’t done any running for quite a while or who would like some help with technique”
